To provide support for people with Down Syndrome and those who support them in Southeastern New Brunswick.
The Greater Moncton Down Syndrome Society Inc. (GMDSS) was incorporated in 2001 as a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting persons diagnosed with Down Syndrome and their families. Started by a small group of parents who had children born and diagnosed with Down syndrome, GMDSS has focused its main efforts on providing support to families, raising public awareness and fostering an understanding of Down syndrome. In addition to the creation of a support network for families, the GMDSS also provides resources for the community, hosts social events and information workshops as well as conducts a variety of fundraising efforts throughout the year.
GMDSS is aware of the isolating effects a diagnosis of Down Syndrome can bring to a family, GMDSS also offers home and hospital visits to any family looking for support and the answers to their many questions.
